Once we have introduced the production process of heat shrink tube in other articles, which is mainly divided into 5 parts:
1. Mixing: Raw materials are mixed in an internal mixer to produce masterbatch particles;
2. Extrusion: Put the above masterbatch into the extruder;
3. Irradiation: irradiate the tube through an electron accelerator;
4. Expansion;
5. Packaging.
Here we will introduce a key problem that often occurs in the production and manufacturing process of heat shrink tube. For heat shrink tube, the inner diameter of heat shrink tube is an important characteristic index. When we are using heat shrink tube, the tube is to be sheathed on an object for heat shrinking. However, our objects have different sizes. In many cases, the cross-sections of the objects that need to be wrapped by heat shrink tube are different. Therefore, it is necessary to choose a size with a smaller inner diameter to ensure that the tube can wrap the minimum cross-sectional size after heat shrinking.
How does the heat shrink tube make the inner diameter smaller? Next we will explain in details. Since the heat shrink tube is passed through the mold and then becomes larger in the expansion process, the size will be directly affected by the mold. If the mold is small, the inner diameter of the natural heat shrink tube will become smaller. Of course, under normal circumstances, this situation rarely happens, so how does it happen if the mold is selected without a problem? Here we have to go back again. If the degree of cross-linking of heat shrink tube is too high during the irradiation process, the shrink stress during the expansion process will be large, and it may not be able to expand to the desired size. It is important to ensure the proper dose of the irradiation process.
Furthermore, if the above two reasons are absent, that is to say, the expansion is normal and qualified, why does the inner diameter of the client become smaller? In this case, there are usually two reasons:
1.The process of shearing or winding of the heat shrink tube usually requires a hot water bath to make the heat shrink tube straight. If the temperature of the water bath is too high, it will cause partial shrinking;
2. Excessive transportation and storage temperature causes shrinking of the tube. Most of the heat shrink tube will show partial shrinking at 50-60℃.
